Concentration and loading of several pesticides in water, suspended solids and sediment during ordinary water discharge in Sugao marsh, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan

Abstract: Among suspended solids, fine particles were important as a carrier of pesticides in run off materials.14) Therefore, it is necessary to prepare ample amounts of suspended solids for the analysis of the concentrations of pesticides, especially in different sizes of suspended solids during ordinary water discharge. The aim of this study is to analyze the concentrations of pesticides in suspended solids of two size fractions together with those in water and sediment in marsh and river, and to estimate the amount o… Show more

“…The simazine-degrading capability of the enriched charcoal was maintained for nearly 2 years. 4) Thus, Charcoal A100 enriched with CD7 is considered to be an effective material for bioremediation; however, CD7 and strain CDB21 could not degrade methylthio-s-triazines detected in river water, 3,6) a lake basin, 7) and river sediments, 8) while Rhodococcus sp. FJ1117YT 9) can transform methylthio-s-triazines to their hydroxyl analogues via sulfur oxidation, and accumulate hydroxy-striazines.…”

“…A similar tendency has been reported in other studies. 4,5,22,23) The concentrations of early-mid-season herbicides, such as daimuron, peaked immediately after transplanting (from early to mid-May), and then decreased rapidly in late May. The concentrations of mid-season herbicides, such as simetryn, peaked 3-4 weeks after transplanting (from late May to early June), and then decreased in mid-June.…”
