“…However, the perforation may lead to performance degradation of FTRC columns. In this study, the polymer grid has been used to prevent the premature spalling of concrete cover (Hadi and Zhao 2011;Heo et al 2011;Park et al 2015). The construction process of FTRC columns in real application can be similar to that of steel RC columns in which the concrete cover is confined with grid mesh (Heo et al 2011).…”

“…In order to avoid the difficulty of installing and removing the internal mold and to improve the production efficiency, various methods such as centrifugal casting method (Choi et al, 2000; Hamada et al, 1998; Hosoya et al, 2001; Hosoya and Asano, 2000; Hosoya and Hukuyama, 2008; Masuda and Yoshioka, 1994; Shan et al, 2017; Zhang et al, 2018a), multiple internal molds (Ding et al, 2017; Wu et al, 2018; Xiao et al, 2012, 2013; Zhang et al, 2009), sequential concrete placements rotating a section (Iso et al, 1999; Kim et al, 2016; Lim et al, 2014), and thin steel plate internal molds (Kim et al, 2017; Lee et al, 2014; Park et al, 2015) have been adopted to fabricate PC tubes. All these methods could improve the production efficiency and structural safety.…”

“…As an alternative method, concrete-filled precast concrete tube (CFPCT) columns have elicited considerable attention because they provide an effective and economical solution to the above issues. In the past few decades, similar types of columns with various details have been investigated under different names such as half PC columns (Choi et al, 2000;Hamada et al, 1998), outer-shell PC columns (Hosoya et al, 2001;Hosoya and Asano, 2000;Hosoya and Hukuyama, 2008;Iso et al, 1999;Masuda and Yoshioka, 1994;Zhang et al, 2009), semi-PC columns (Xiao et al, 2012(Xiao et al, , 2013, concretefilled hollow PC columns (Kim et al, 2016(Kim et al, , 2017Lee et al, 2014;Lim et al, 2014;Park et al, 2015), or CFPCT columns (Ding et al, 2017;Shan et al, 2017;Wu et al, 2018;Zhang et al, 2018a). In this method, a PC tube can be prefabricated in factory, and after erecting the PC tube on site, a composite column composed of PC tube and filled concrete can be completed by filling the core with cast-in-place concrete.…”

“…Lee et al [2] had conducted research with the title of cyclic loading test for exterior beam-column joints of CEFT columns. This research was based on the paper of concretefilled steel tube column encased with thin precast concrete by Park.et.al [3]. A cyclic loading test was performed to investigate the seismic performance of exterior beam-column joints of concrete-encased-and-filled steel tubular (CEFT) columns.…”
