Conformal mapping and efficient boundary element method without boundary elements for fast vortex particle simulations

Abstract: In this paper, a revitalization of conformal mapping methods applied to fluid flows in two dimensions is proposed. The present work addresses several important issues concerning their application for vortex particle flow solvers. Difficulties of past conformal based method are reviewed. One difficulty concerns the ability of a mapping procedure to represent complicated shapes. The present paper improves past algorithms to be able to map new shapes, including multiply connected domains. A new fast procedure all… Show more

“…In both figures red points represent clockwise vortex particles and blue points counter-clockwise particles emitted from the blades. These simulations have been achieved using a two-dimensional model with innovative algorithms [18] and a new approach toward geometry using conformal mapping of multiply connected domains [19] resulting in a significant decrease in computation time.…”

“…The average monthly consumption of energy is 350-400 kW. In such houses, the height of the wind tower, energy consumption is not large, and the main part of the energy consumption is spent on heating and cooling the house [12,13]. Whenever we choose a wind generator, it is necessary to consider the wind speed in the selected mountain systems.…”

“…The mirror vortices are very densely packed inside the cylinder, and especially so close to the cylinder center. Although our particular implementation only applies for a cylinder, by using conformal mappings the technique with mirror vortices can be used to simulate other geometries as well [12,13].…”
