Conifer Green Needle Complex in Patients with Precancerous Gastric Lesions: An Observational Pilot Study

Abstract: Objectives. Helicobacter pylori infection is common and can lead to precancerous gastric lesions. Standard antibiotic therapy has a failure rate of more than 25% from antibiotic resistance. The primary aim of this observational pilot study was to test the feasibility of a large-scale clinical trial of Conifer Green Needle Complex (CGNC) to treat precancerous gastric lesions. Secondary aims were to investigate H. pylori infection, stomach function, and histopathology of the gastric mucosa. Methods. A tablet for… Show more

“…Polyprenols have been arousing interest already since the 1960s [27]. Nowadays, we have much more information not only on the synthetic pathways of polyprenol and dolichol (α-saturated isoprenoids) formation [28] but also further scientific questions are being asked, whether polyprenols and dolichols are super-lipids [29] and to what degree they can be applied in prophylaxis and treatment of different diseases [30]. So far, polyprenols have been extracted from a plethora of various plants [7,31,32], but many novel synthesized derivatives have been described as well [33].…”

“…In an observational pilot study conducted in Russia, a tablet form of Conifer Green Needle Complex (CGNC) extracted from Pinus sylvestris and Picea abies (L) Karst was prescribed to 26 patients with precancerous gastric lesions for 6 months [24]. Another 24 patients received no treatment (control/no placebo).…”

“…Several group of phytochemicals such as terpenes, β-glycosides, saponins, essential oils and alkaloids inhibit T. vaginalis [23,24]. CGNC has antioxidant properties [25] and antimicrobial activities [19,20] and has been shown to suppress Helicobacter pylori in vitro and in vivo [26][27][28][29].…”
