“…The use of standardized workflows, standing orders, flagged reminders, or electronic tools embedded in the computerized system to aid in determining the best care plan for addressing care recommendations. Ayres and Griffith (2008) supported improving the delivery of clinical preventive services (CPS) by identifying one consistent set of CPS guidelines to endorse and suggest utilization of CPS resulted in substantial reductions in both morbidity and mortality. Clinical decision support tools are being refined to provide the information that clinicians require without overloading them with unnecessary data (Sullivan & Wyatt, 2005).…”

“…The concept of decision support enables more comprehensive patient care creating a more integrated approach to care. Ayres and Griffith (2008) suggested a consistent set of guidelines supports clinicians through providing one consistent set of clinical services recommendations, and states that clinicians who reported consensus guidelines to be helpful in promoting the delivery of clinical preventive services (CPS) reported higher use of consensus guidelines in their practice helping to minimize barrier of inconsistency.…”

“…Not surprisingly, scheduling CPS appointments is a key determinant of services receipt [24]. To help ensure the receipt of recommended CPS, researchers suggest implementing (1) educational workshops to enable women with disabilities to manage CPS appointments [25], (2) integrated or mobile checklists, and prompts and reminder systems for clinicians [2628], (3) consensus practice guidelines within health plans and their provider base to ensure coverage [29], and (4) surveillance to monitor CPS receipt, evaluate health system performance and health impact, and ensure accountability at various levels [30]. …”
