Consolidation Algorithm Interoperability in Point-to-Multipoint ABR Services in ATM Networks

Abstract: Abstract. The point-to-multipoint ABR service is a very important service in ATM networks. Recently, several researchers have studied the issues on multicast ABR services and have proposed a family of consolidation algorithms. All of the previous proposed algorithms have some drawbacks such as slow response, high consolidation noise and high implementation complexity etc. Hence, we propose a new efficient consolidation algorithm which overcomes all such drawbacks. We also recognize that in point-to-multipoint … Show more

“…Case III: Fahmy For Fahmy algorithm, as described before, if there is no overload at the branch point it works in a wait-for-all mode. The source rate equation look similar to (10) and (11). In case an overloaded condition is detected at the branch point, the branch point will send instantly a BRM with the minimal value between ER in BRM at that time and the calculated fair share value to the source.…”

“…There were many papers [13][14][15][16] proposing a performance analysis of the unicast ABR services. For ABR multicast, there are some papers which proposed the consolidation algorithms [5,[7][8][9][10][11]17,18] but only few literatures analysed the algorithm mathematically [4,6]. In this paper, we analysed and compared the performance of various types of consolidation algorithms.…”
