Construction 3d Bim-Based Knowledge Management System: A Case Study

Abstract: Knowledge management (KM) is the organization, creation, sharing and flow of knowledge within organizations. Knowledge can be shared and reused among involved engineers and experts to improve a construction process and reduce the time and cost of solving problems. This paper proposes a new and practical methodology to capture and represent construction project knowledge by using a Building Information Modeling (BIM) approach. Using BIM approach, users can make visual knowledge management in the 3D Computer-aid… Show more

“…Liu and Issa [21] considered a measure for smooth data compatibility between BIM model data and maintenance system data in order to apply planning-stage BIM model data to the maintenance system in order to enhance the usefulness of BIM during the maintenance and management phase. In order to apply BIM information to China's bidding system, Ma et al [22] developed a process map and algorithm for linking BIM model data and the information needed for bidding based on an algorithmic analysis of the bidding system and veri ed the usefulness of said process map and algorithm, while Lin [23] suggested a BIM-based system for the management of construction knowledge during the construction phase that would enable the storage of information relevant to the construction phase using the BIM model.…”

“…However, it is also meaningful that Radio Frequency Identification Devices (RFID) technology was firstly tried to use for the development of KM tools in the big data era (El Ghazali et al 2012). Furthermore, it is fortunately that a useful KM tool-Building Information Modeling (BIM)-was developed and widely used in many construction projects all over the world (Ho et al 2013;Lin 2014).…”
