“…When viewed in terms of language, maqasid sharia means the purpose of the implementation of Sharia-Islamic law (Mukhibad, 2019;Soleh, 2016). The purpose of Sharia is to improve the welfare of the community by protecting its faith (din), lust (nafs), reason ('aql), descent (nasi), and wealth (mal) (Asutay & Harningtyas, 2015;Mohammad & Shahwan, 2013;Mohammed et al, 2015a;Rusydiana, 2016;Shinkafi, Ali, & Choudhury, 2017;Sutrisno;Widarjono, 2017;Syafii et al, 2012;Tarique & Ahmed, 2017).…”

Scholars found that an important concentration apparent within the extant literature is the overwhelming focus on the Islamic banks' performance using Maqasid-based model.…”

“…The holistic view of the socio economic objectives for the formation of balanced society, makes the Islamic banking much more than just an institution based on the principle of interest prohibition and conforming to the legal requirements and technicalities of products and services for Shariah compliance (Haron & Hisham, 2003;Hassan & Musa, 2003;Jan, Ullah, & Asutay, 2015;Nouman & Ullah, 2014;Shinkafi & Ali, 2017;Siddiqui, 1985;Siddiqui, 2001). In the wake of achieving the socio economic objectives, the main concern of Islamic banking is to create enduring balance between profit motive and social wellbeing for the betterment of the whole society (Ahmed, 2000;Al-Omar & Abdel-Haq, 1996;Haron, 1995).…”

“…Islamic economy is a system based on Islamic ethical values (Aliyu & Aini, 2017;Haniff et al, 2018;Nawaz, 2019;Sahin, 2018). Despite different conceptions and points of emphasis among Muslim economists in this field, they agree that normative and ethical values of Islam are inseparable from the realm of the discipline of economics (Hafas et al, 2020;Hasan, 2020).…”
