Continuous fetal monitoring of HbO2 with pulse oxymetry

Abstract: Pulse oximetry is well established in anesthesia and intensive care medicine. Application for fetal monitoring would be desirable, but significant modifications are necessary. We report our first promising clinical experience with a self-developed probe, hard- and software system. We hope by the positive results which we have observed that this new technology--oxicardiotocography (OCTG) will improve the safety of fetal monitoring.
