Continuous Preparation of 1:1 Haloperidol–Maleic Acid Salt by a Novel Solvent-Free Method Using a Twin Screw Melt Extruder

Abstract: Salts are generally prepared by acid-base reaction in relatively large volumes of organic solvents, followed by crystallization. In this study, the potential for preparing a pharmaceutical salt between haloperidol and maleic acid by a novel solvent-free method using a twin-screw melt extruder was investigated.
