Control Radiation Pattern for Half Width Microstrip Leaky Wave Antenna by Using PIN Diodes

Abstract: <p class="Default">In this paper, a novel design for single-layer half width microstrip leakywave antenna (HW-MLWA) is demonstrated. This model can be digitally control its radiation pattern at operation frequency and uses only two values of the bias voltage, with better impedance matching and insignificant gain variation. The scanning and controlling the radiation pattern of leaky-wave antennas (LWA) in steps at an operation frequency, by using switches PIN diodes, is investigated and a novel HW-MLWA is… Show more

“…Due to the DGS the performance parameters of the antennas like return loss, gain VSWR, and bandwidth is improved [15]. With the advent of technological encroachments, a variety of design techniques for controlling electronically radiation pattern and enhancement of radiation in boresight for different frequency bands were developed in antennas [16][17][18][19]. FR4 based polygonal patch antenna and a CPW feed antenna are desined to resonate at UWB [20,21].…”

“…Leaky wave antenna (LWA) is a promising candidate for these developing applications because of its advantages, such as wide bandwidth, low profile, easy fabrication, capability of beam scanning, and narrow beamwidth. LWAs are preferable for use in satellite communication, multipoint communication, and automotive radars [3][4][5][6][7]. In a radar system, most of the applications require a wide bandwidth to reach a continuous wide beam scanning.…”

“…Therefore, the not-deformed state can be calculated not only for the image of the fingerprint, but also for the fingerprint template. Thus, the synthesis of the "not-deformed" state can be introduced into functioning automatic dactyloscopic verification and identification systems [30,31].…”
