Control simplification and stress reduction in a modified PWM zero voltage switching pole inverter

Abstract: This paper discusses a modified PWM zero voltage switching pole inverter which allows for zero voltage switching of the main switch and zero current switching of the auxiliary switch. The proposal features simplified control and reduced auxiliary circuit stress in comparison with the Auxiliary-Resonant-Commutated-Pole-Inverter (ARCPI). Operation and designing aspects of the proposal are detailed in the paper. The proposal is verified by a 4.5kW IGBT half bridge prototype. 0-7803-5160-6/99/$10.00 0 1999 IEEE.
