“…The MBfR has been widely used to achieve microbial reduction of a broad spectrum of oxidized water pollutants (Van Ginkel et al, 2010; Lai et al, 2016; Martin & Nerenberg, 2012; Zhou et al, 2014), but its application as a production system is relatively new. Ten recent studies (Chen & Ni, 2016; Shen et al, 2014, 2018; Wang et al, 2017; Wang, Dai, Wang, et al, 2018; Wang, Dai, Xia, et al, 2018; Wang, Zhang, Zhang, et al, 2018; Yasin et al, 2014; Zhang, Ding, Shen, et al, 2013; Zhang, Ding, Zhang, et al, 2013) demonstrated the production of carboxylates in MBfRs from mixtures of H 2 , CO, and CO 2 , at different concentrations. We compiled these studies in Table S1, where half of the studies used an H 2 /CO 2 gas mixture.…”
