“…One of the theories providing a useful theoretical background for coopetition research is the Resource-Based View (Ritala, 2012). From this perspective coopetition may be used for building competitive advantage resulting from provision, development, or enrichment of resources jointly with rivals (Cassiman, Di, Ch, & Valentini, 2009;Gnyawali & Park, 2009;Morris et al, 2007;Osarenkhoe, 2010;Rusko, Merenheimo, & Haanpää, 2013).…”

“…The Santa Claus Village represents a particularly interesting case study, as the city receives several thousands of tourists every year, allowing a potentially large number of tourists to interact with various Arctic Circle landmarks. Most studies concerning or mentioning Rovaniemi and the Santa Claus Village have usually focused on the Christmas industry (Hall, 2008(Hall, , 2014Pretes, 1995;Rusko et al, 2013;Tervo-Kankare et al, 2013), few publications were devoted to the Arctic Circle and its landmarks. Nevertheless, articles that do examine this border include Löytynoja (2008) who analyzed the development of the Arctic Circle in Rovaniemi as a tourist attraction among other Nordic tourist destinations, or Timothy (1998) who considered the Arctic Circle a place to visit because it allows you to step into two different places at once (here the Arctic and the "temperate" northern zone), or impresses others because of the uniqueness of the location.…”

“…RBV has been widely utilized in the hospitality and tourism literature (Lee & King, 2006;Massukado-Nakatani & Teixeira, 2009;Andreu, Claver & Quer, 2010;De Carlo & Dubini, 2010;Peters, Siller & Matzler, 2011;Rusko, Merenheimo & Haanpää, 2013;Evans, 2016;Alonso, 2017b) including in the context of gastronomy tourism (Horng &Tsai, 2012;Alonso & Bressan, 2016;Alonso, 2017a;Alonso, Kok & O'Brien, 2018). For instance, the study of Lee and King (2006), proposes a conceptual model to find out the components determining the competitiveness of the hot springs tourism sector in Taiwan via benefiting the RBV and the theories of industry organization (IO).…”
