“…The formation of MMK-9 was accompanied by the production of two other compounds, one an isomer of MMK-9 , but MMK-9 was the major product. Previous studies of this molecule have monitored the incorporation of an H 2 /HD mixture into MMK-9 by 1 H NMR spectroscopy and have examined its reaction with Ru 3 (CO) 12 . , The reaction with Ru 3 (CO) 12 is complex and involves coordination of ruthenium atoms to the oxygen atoms of MMK-9 as well as the formation of a C–C bond between the adjacent carbon atoms to reduce the size of the orifice. Additionally, reactions that lead to the expansion of the opening in MMK-9 have been examined. , In this report, we structurally characterize MMK-9 as well as two open-cage adducts with silver salts.…”

“…Last but not least, endohedral fullerenes exist because of the fact that they are hollow; so they have the potential application of confining or protecting molecules, thus acting as carriers or stabilizers. Particularly, those with metallic atoms inside them-endohedral metallofullerenes-have been attractive for chemistry, physics and interdisciplinary areas, such as materials and biological sciences [22][23][24][25].…”

“…[13,14] The unique chemical and physicalp roperties of fullerene C 60 , [15][16][17][18][19][20] such as its highly effi-cient electron acceptor character and electronic absorption throughout the UV/Vis spectral region, have aroused considerable interest in its application in intramolecular PET reactions, [21][22][23][24] and make hybrid systems containing both at ransition-metal complex and af ullerene moiety to be of great interest. [25][26][27] In particular, chiral metal complexesp rovide ap romising tooli no rganometallic chemistry,d ue to their pertinence to enantioselective reactions and catalytic applicationsi no rganic synthesis. [28,29] Ar ecent discoveryo ff ullerene C 60 half-sandwich transition-metal hybrid complexes with chiral centers, both on ligand and metal species, opens new opportunities not only for metal catalysis but also for PET reactions.…”
