Core–shell fibremats comprising a poly(AM/DAAM)/ADH nanofibre core and nylon6 shell layer are an attractive immobilization platform for constructing immobilised enzymes

Abstract: Core–shell fibremats, comprising poly(AM/DAAM)/ADH core-nanofibres and hydrophobic shell layers, are a new class of attractive platform for constructing various immobilised enzymes.

“…eLACCO1.1 was produced by E. coli DH10B strain (Thermo Fisher Scientic) using pBAD-eLACCO1.1. 15 4.2 Synthesis of diacetone methacrylamide (DAMA) 26 Methacrylonitrile (7.5 mL, 89.4 mmol) was added dropwise to diacetone alcohol (11.2 mL, 89.4 mmol) in con-H 2 SO 4 (10 mL) with keeping the temperature below 10 °C using ice bath. Aer further 1 h stirring at 4 °C, the resulting solution was extracted with dichloromethane.…”

“… 25 However, wrapping the fibres with a thin layer of hydrophobic poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) 25 or nylon 6 (ref. 26 ) satisfied the required mechanical strength without sacrificing the efficient enzymatic activity against low-MW substrates. Such double-layered fibremats are called ‘core–shell fibremats’, and the PCL or nylon 6 layer is called a ‘shell’.…”
