Correlation Factors Analysis of Breast Cancer Tumor Volume Doubling Time Measured by 3D-Ultrasound

Abstract: BackgroundTumor volume doubling time (TVDT) is relatively important for breast cancer diagnosis and prognosis evaluation. This study aimed to analyze the related factors that may affect the TVDT of breast cancer by three-dimensional ultrasound (3D-US).Material/MethodsA total of 69 breast cancer patients were selected. 3D-US was applied to measure the volume of breast lumps diagnosed as BI-RADS-US 4A by conventional ultrasound. TVDT was calculated according to the formula TVDT=ΔT×log2/log(V2/V1). Multiple linea… Show more

“…Precise timings of breast cancer development are difficult to assess as the moment of first cancer cell mutation is unknown. Tumor doubling time does give some estimation of the growth rate of breast carcinoma, which is suggested as 169 or 225 days for Grade 1 and 3 cancers, respectively 5 …”

“…Tuttle et al described the tumor volume kinetics of papillary thyroid cancers based on the concept of exponential tumor growth [ 13 ]. The TV-DTs of other lesions such as breast cancers, hepatocellular cancers, and prostatic cancers have also been reported [ 14 16 ].…”
