Corrosion inhibition of mild steel in hydrochloric acid by 6‐aminohexanoic acid

Abstract: The inhibiting behavior of 6-aminohexanoic acid (C 6 H 13 NO 2 ) on mild steel corrosion in 1 M HCl as corroding solution at 25 8C was evaluated by weight loss, polarization, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) methods. The weight loss, polarization, and EIS measurements were relatively in good agreement together. Results obtained by the three methods showed that the inhibition efficiency (%IE) increases with increasing the concentration of 6-aminohexanoic acid up to 6.86 Â 10 À05 M (about %IE ¼ 8… Show more

“…There are kinds of ways to prevent the corrosion of metal, such as electrochemical protection (cathodic and anodic protection), the use of corrosion inhibitor, metal coating protective technology (electroplating, chemical, hot dipping), metal surface transformation (metal oxide, metal phosphating, passivation), non‐metallic coating, etc. . Among them, the use of corrosion inhibitors is a kind of convenient, efficient, and effective way to prevent metal corrosion.…”

“…Mild steel is widely used in many applications; this intensified the research in corrosion resistance in various aggressive environments [1][2][3][4]. In order to mitigate electrochemical corrosion, the primary strategy adopted is to isolate the metal from corrosive agents.…”
