Cosmology in the presence of multiple light moduli

Abstract: The generic expectation in string/supergravity models is that there are multiple moduli fields with masses of the order of the supersymmetry breaking scale. We study the cosmology that arises as a result of vacuum misalignment of these moduli fields (in contrast to previous studies which mostly focussed on the single modulus case). We show that the dark radiation produced from the heavier moduli undergoes significant dilution. This happens even if there is a small splitting between the masses of the lightest a… Show more

“…Crab nebula photon spectrum, according to different theoretical models, continues up to 100-400 TeV [38]. At these energies, it would be detected by HAWC [39], CTA [40,41], Carpet-2 [42], TAIGA [43], LHAASO [44]. Detection of photons from Crab (or other galactic sources) in these energy range may increase the bound (34) up to the level M LV > 5 × 10 14 GeV.…”

“…Additionally, a minimum of 10 signal events are required; we also require that the number of signal events exceeds the number of background events. Other sensitivity curves were taken from [47] (see also [48]) and denote the differential sensitivity of Fermi LAT and atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes (ACT) [49,50] (see Figure 5 (left) of [16] for the meaning of these curves). We conclude that the proposed new γ-ray instrument has the sensitivity several times greater than the Fermi LAT one in the wide energy range 100 MeV-100 GeV and could provide a natural low-energy extension for IACT such as the CTA array [49,50] or LHAASO [51].…”

“…The use of SiPMs as the focal-plane camera pixels of Cherenkov telescopes was first realized by the FACT telescope [2]. As of 2019, several SiPM camera prototypes are also being developed for the Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) [3] with the aim to build compact and less expensive cameras with thousands of pixels that can have a high tolerance to bright moon nights.…”
