Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 2010: Case Report

Abstract: IntroductionCrimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) is a severe infectious disease that is not endemic in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).Case PresentationWe report two cases of confirmed CCHF diagnosed in Dubai, UAE, during Hajj season 2010. Both patients presented with an acute history of high-grade fever, skin rash, and hematemesis.ConclusionsIn spite of maximal supportive measures and intravenous ribavirin therapy, both patients died within a few days from start of illness.
