Critical success factors for integrating artificial intelligence and robotics

Abstract: Purpose This paper aims to enlighten stakeholders about critical success factors (CSFs) in developing intelligent autonomous systems (IASs) by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) with robotics. It suggests a prioritization hierarchy model for building sustainable ecosystem for developing IASs. Design/methodology/approach This paper is based on the existing literature and on the opinion of 15 experts. All the experts have minimum of eight years of experience in AI and related technologies. The CSF theory… Show more

“…For warranting the data quality and leveraging its value, data governance is a potential approach (Gregory 2011 ; Grover et al 2018 ; Mir et al 2020 ; Braganza et al 2017 ; Wiener et al 2020 ). Governance includes areas such as organizational strategy, data quality & security, innovation applications, ‘Data Science’ architecture, and lifecycle (Fakhri et al 2020 ).…”

“…Furthermore, Boddington (2017) explained varied approaches to dealing with ethical issues in AI that can encourage the development of ethics standards. In line with the above explanation about responsible AI, another study by Mir et al (2020) informed stakeholders about critical success factors in developing "intelligent autonomous systems" by putting artificial intelligence together with mechanized programs.…”

“…Regarding CSFs, there are few studies to be seen, so this review also includes the drivers of AI. Mir et al [68] discussed the CSFs of AI adaption through the application of intelligent autonomous systems. Total interpretative structure modeling has been used to analyze the considered CSFs, in which policies are identified as the major CSFs.…”

“…The remaining issues will be addressed later in this article. Some studies [4], [68] have already examined the CSFs with different concerns (managerial, operational, strategic, IT infrastructure, and organizational) for the implementation of (AI) projects. However, these studies are mainly limited to applications (e.g., healthcare) that are not suitable for newly introduced sustainable frugal innovation.…”
