“…In this section, the various methodologies employed by those researching on the successful implementation of GM and environmental-friendly manufacturing are reviewed. There are a few methods that have been developed and utilised in analysing GM implementation factors such as ISM-MICMAC (Thanki Shashank and Thakkar, 2018;Seth et al, 2018;Digalwar Abhijeet et al, 2017;Bhanot et al, 2017), multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) (Toke and Kalpande, 2019;Thanki and Thakkar, 2019;Chen and Bidanda, 2019;Luo et al, 2018;Gandhi et al, 2018;Barzegar et al, 2018;Mittal and Sangwan, 2014;Garg et al, 2014) and structural equation modelling (SEM) (Belhadi et al, 2020;Yacob et al, 2019;Wang, 2019;Ceptureanu et al, 2018;Aboelmaged, 2018). For this research study, a holistic approach is required to capture the interdependencies between variables in the successful implementation of GM in Irish SMEs.…”

“…Consequently, a directed hierarchy of variables is established to capture the relative importance of certain variables and their effects on the overall system. Furthermore, this hierarchy contains more information compared to an elementary ranking system such as MCDM approaches (Toke and Kalpande, 2019) as it displays which variables are influenced by variables from lower levels in the hierarchy.…”

“…According to Law number 3 of 2014 concerning Industry, the green industry is an industry that, in its production process, prioritizes efforts to efficiently and effectively use resources sustainably to be able to harmonize industrial development with the preservation of environmental functions and can benefit the community [7]. Green Industry can also be defined as an effort to reduce environmental impacts by reducing poisons, waste, pollution, optimizing the use of raw materials and energy [8]. The green industry can be done through several applications, including reducing energy consumption and pollutant emissions, monitoring process monitoring, work safety, controlling and monitoring risks, and evaluating the ecological footprint [9].…”
