“…Therefore, the central segment of the CAOB is thought to be the most plausible area in which to observe preserved intrinsic tectonic features created by the closure of the Paleo‐Asian Ocean. An integrated geophysical profile has been created from the Huailai basin to the China‐Mongolia border in the central segment of the CAOB (see Figure ), including a deep seismic reflection profile (S. Zhang, Gao, et al, ), a wide‐angle reflection and refraction profile (W. Li et al, ), a magnetotelluric sounding profile (Liang et al, ), and a broadband seismic profile (Gong et al, ). The detailed structure of the crust has been resolved in the above mentioned profiles, but the structure of the deep lithosphere, which is essential for analyzing the termination of the Paleo‐Asian Ocean, remains unclear.…”
