“…Both materials are based on the 4 2 6 3 8-a network (Smith, 1977;Wells, 1979) observed for zeolite ABW (Kerr, 1974). This is one of several four-connected networks that can be constructed by allowing a tetrahedral point to make three connections within a layer and the fourth to an adjacent layer (Feng et al, 1997).…”

“…When considered in isolation (Smith, 1977), the SSCSSC ring forms the LiAlSiO 4 Á H 2 O (Li-ABW) zeolite (Kerr, 1974) topology, and the SSSCSC ring occurs in 1 Additional material to this paper can be ordered referring to the no. “…The phases CsZnPO 4 [three temperature-dependent modifications] (Blum, Durif, Averbuch-Pouchot, 1986), RbZnPO 4 (Elammari, Elouadi, 1991), and NaZnPO 4 -ABW (Ng, Harrison, 1998) crystallise in different space groups, but are all topologically equivalent to the zeolite ABW (LiAlSiO 4 H 2 O) framework (Kerr, 1974), as was also recently noted by Kahlenberg (1998). Finally, it may be observed that a-AgZnPO 4 (Hammond, Barbier, Gallardo, 1998), b-NH 4 ZnPO 4 (Harrison, Sobolev, Phillips, 1999) and a-KZnPO 4 (Andratschke, Range, Haase, Klement, 1992) are topologically equivalent: the 3 p supercell in the a direction in the latter phase might arise from a different arrangement of extra-framework cations in the [001] channels, from framework relaxation of the symmetry-restrained linear T± ±O± ±T bond in b-NH 4 ZnPO 4 , or from a combination of these effects.…”

“…Lisitsynite and synthetic Li-A(BW) zeolite {Li[AlSiO 4 ] •H 2 O, a 10.313(1), b 8.194(1), c 4.993(1) Å, Pna2 1 , Z = 4; [Kerr (1974), Krogh Andersen & Ploug-Sørensen (1986)} have similar cell-dimensions and identical main building-units: four-, six-and eight-membered rings of tetrahedra and the same type of puckered-ladder arrangement of four-membered rings. However, because of the different connectivity of the rings, the topologies of lisitsynite and Li-A(BW) are different.…”
