Crystallographic polarity effect of ZnO on thin film growth of pentacene

Abstract: Crystallographic polarity effects of ZnO on growth and electrical states of pentacene grown on ZnO single crystal substrates were investigated. Pentacene layers lie on ZnO surfaces with upright orientation. The surface potential of pentacene varied to positive as the thickness of pentacene increases until 2 mono-layer (ML), and the variation of potential of pentacene on Zn-polar ZnO is larger than that of O-polar ZnO, suggesting that the electronic state of inorganic/organic semiconductor interface can control… Show more

“…Meanwhile, ZnO is also a kind of important wide-band-gap semiconductor material employed for various applications owing to its excellent properties for instance high n-type conductivity, excellent surface activity and its ability to form multiple nanostructures. The influences of polarity in ZnO single-crystal substrates have been researched by many people in order to analyse the growth characteristics, optical, electrical and interface properties of ZnO thin films [2,3]. Based on intense research, researchers realise that crystallographic polarity has an important influence for wurtzite-type semiconductors, for example ZnO [4,5].…”
