CT-based radiomics for prediction of therapeutic response to Everolimus in metastatic neuroendocrine tumors

Abstract: Aim To test radiomic approach in patients with metastatic neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) treated with Everolimus, with the aim to predict progression-free survival (PFS) and death. Materials and methods Twenty-five patients with metastatic neuroendocrine tumors, 15/25 pancreatic (60%), 9/25 ileal (36%), 1/25 lung (4%), were retrospectively enrolled between August 2013 and December 2020. All patients underwent contrast-enhanced CT before starting Everolimus, … Show more

“…Local ablation has minimal morbidity, lower cost and shorter hospital stays [81]. Each local therapies have its advantages and disadvantages and the choice depends by size of the lesion and location with the aim to induce localized cytotoxicity of the tumor preserving near normal tissue [82][83][84][85][86][87][88][89][90][91][92].…”

“…Most primary pancreatic cancers are pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas (PDACs); only a small proportion are pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors [46][47][48][49][50][51][52][53] and, even rarer, malignancies [54][55][56][57][58][59]. PDACs normally rise through a process that involves several stages, from pancreatic intraepithelial neoplasia (PanIN) [60].…”
