The aim of this study was to explore the match and technical indicators between winning and losing women's teams in the Olympics and World Championships (2016–2021) depending on the final score of the matches and to compare the winners’ technical indicators in 3-set matches to those of men in the respective competitions. A total of 281 volleyball matches were analyzed from the Women's Olympics (2016 and 2021) and World Championships (2014 and 2018). Discriminant function analysis determined which skill(s) contributed significantly to winning matches in every type of score. This study showed that the teams that won 3-0 and 3-1 matches had better performance in all scoring skills (serve, attack, block, and opponent errors) compared to their opponents, while the opponents’ errors did not affect the result. In 5-set matches, block points were the main predictor of a team's success. In conclusion, the results of the women's teams at the highest level of volleyball matches, show that different performance indicators determine the match outcome. The attack is not the only skill that increases the probability of winning a match, since block and serve to contribute equally significantly. Furthermore, in 5-set matches, blocking is the technical skill that differentiates the winning from the losing teams. Finally, in 3-set matches, it seems that the performance indicators differ between women and men in attack efficiency, block, and opponent error points.

Background and Study Aim. Aim is to determine the influence of the components of special physical training on the effectiveness of certain elements of the game technique during the competitive activities of beach volleyball athletes. Material and methods. The study involved athletes (n = 20, age - 17-21 years, experience - 8-9 years), who are engaged in beach volleyball (Kherson, Ukraine). Experts (n = 5, work experience - over 20 years) from among the leading volleyball specialists were involved. Training sessions were conducted according to the author’s structure and content of special physical training (preparatory period of the annual cycle). The author's program was to increase the volume of athletic work by 10% (selective classes and integrated work) and 17% (complex classes). The classes used a developed special training device. The device is designed to practice practical game skills. The load at the first stage was 70-80% of the maximum. The load in the second stage was 80-90% of the maximum. Results. Significant (p <0.05) development of explosive power, speed and agility was revealed. There is a significant (p <0,05) increase: in the number of jump serve and spike; improving the quality/number of serve and attack; improving the quality of passing and the number of blocks. Conclusions. The proposed structure and content of special physical training and exercises on a special simulator have significantly increased the level of development of physical qualities. The athlete training program helped to improve the effectiveness of certain technical actions during competitive activities.

Background and Study Aim. An important component of volleyball competitive activity is to obtain statistics on the performance of the jump serve. This allows the coach to decide on the appropriateness of its use in different moments of the game to obtain optimal results. The purpose of the work is to determine the indicators of the effectiveness of jump serve by volleyball players of student teams. Material and Methods. The analysis of statistical data obtained as a result of pedagogical observations of the performance of jump serve. Volleyball players (aged 17-21 years) were monitored during the competitions. 8 games with the total number of jump serve 410 were selected for analysis. Results. The corresponding indicators of efficiency of jump serve depending on number of a zone of a playground are defined. The efficiency of serve and different zones was the following: in zone 1 - 34.9%; in zone 5 - 31.1%; in zone 6 - 23.6%. Zones 1 and 5 have been determined to be the most vulnerable to the opponent’s defensive actions in the jump serve. It was shown that the jump serve significantly reduces the chances of the opponent to attack effectively. Conclusions. The results can be used to solve the problem of improving the efficiency of jump serve in the training and competitive activities of student teams. It is recommended to use the jump serve in the first two games, when its effectiveness reaches its maximum values. It is also recommended to direct such a serve to the playground zones 1 and 5. It is necessary to find ways to improve the technique and accuracy of the jump serve and increase its efficiency in competitive activities.
