“…To provide various viewing styles and human interfaces, different curvatures are designed for different display panels. The curvature of curved TVs and computer monitors 9,10 is large, usually around 1000 mm (R 1000) or larger, whereas wearable devices and mobile devices need a small curvature, for example, R 50 or smaller 6,11,12 . In automotive application, 13,14 the curvature usually stays between R 50 and R 1000 3 .…”

“…The measurement of large curved displays have been studied and documented [4][5][6][7]. Nevertheless the issues of flexible light sources (FLSs) with small radius, i.e., the degree of flatness and the surface geometric structure, hitherto have not been studied.…”

“…Since bending a lighting unit alters the optical properties of the unit, assessment of optical performance of the display lighting units in a curved state, i.e., stretched or shrunken conditions is indispensable for manufacturing societies. In contrast to flat display lighting unit, a curved or flexible light source introduces new issues and measurement challenges [1][2][3]. Optical characteristics should be evaluated to assure the integration of the lighting unit with the flexible display because characteristics such as spatial and angular luminance, luminance uniformity or virtual luminance uniformity, chromaticity distribution, color uniformity, luminous intensity distribution, local luminous flux and etendue of the flexible light source change with decreasing radius of curvature.…”
