Cutaneous metastasis to the chest wall from prostate cancer

Abstract: Prostate cancer is the most common malignancy in men in the United States. However, skin metastasis from prostate carcinoma is extremely uncommon. Here, we present a 75‐year‐old Caucasian man with a history of metastatic prostate cancer developing multiple subcutaneous, erythematous nodules over the left anterior chest over a 3‐month period. A fine needle aspiration of a subcutaneous nodule showed neoplastic cells consistent with metastatic prostate cancer. This case represents only the fourth reported case of… Show more

“…The constellation of 18F-FDG PET/CT findings raised the index of suspicion for possible underlying prostate cancer. Although rare, cutaneous metastases from prostate cancer have been reported [6][7][8][9]. We did not find any reports of cutaneous nodules as the initial manifestation in a patient with clinically unsuspected prostate cancer.…”

“…Extrinsic malignant obstruction of the duodenum commonly results from contiguous spread from adjacent organs such as the pancreas and gallbladder. Metastatic spread from prostate cancer to the GI tract is uncommon and tends to be a local manifestation involving the rectum,[567] although metastases to the duodenum and esophagus have been reported in an autopsy study. [10] In all these cases, the GI spread was a manifestation of disease recurrence and not a presenting feature.…”

“…While metastasis to bone is relatively common, prostate cancer rarely metastasizes to the cecum, pituitary gland, small bowel, maxillary sinus, or skin. [23456] The case reported here is a rare presentation of metastatic prostate cancer to the duodenum. Our search of the literature published from 1966 till date yielded only two cases of prostate metastases to the duodenum.…”
