Cyber-Physical Production Management

Abstract: Today a high adherence to delivery dates is the main logistic target for manufacturing companies. To control the increasing complexity of production planning and control manufacturing companies use IT systems. However, the applied IT systems often do not provide a reliable forecast of delivery dates and thus affect the required adherence to delivery dates. The paper describes a cyber-physical approach to optimize the production planning and control towards a reliable detailed planning. Therefore, it is necessa… Show more

“…Improved productivity is integral to each and every industrialization. I4.0 is a fresh, popularly discussed and researched technical framework which may ultimately be a fourth industrial revolution because it brings great improvements to the sectors that are appropriate to smart and potential industry sectors (Schuh et al, 2013;Durak and Saritepeci, 2018). The new trend brings combine cyber and mobile experiences via cyber-physical system CPS technology and opens up numerous possible opportunities which require companies to implement the new manufacturing framework to optimize efficiency and productivity (Zhou et al, 2015).…”

“…However, APS systems lack of a part of flexibility, such as the control strategies for sequencing that are permanently defined. The current APS systems cannot provide the optimal configuration of the control strategy based on the current situation [61]. In addition, a solution of the possible combinations of control strategies regarding the dependencies of individual jobs and machines is too complex for humans [32].…”
