“…Accordingly, the number of patients undergoing external-beam radiotherapy (EBRT) as curative treatment has increased (2). Despite this, the mortality rate associated with prostate cancer has continuously increased over the past few decades (3); therefore, to address this, radiotherapy combined with androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) has been evaluated for the treatment prostate cancer.…”

“…There have probably been no cytochemical studies in which ACLase activity and/or GCLase activity are localized on the tight junction. Moreover, we also demonstrated that ouabain-insensitive, K+-dependentp-nitrophenylphosphatase activity (K+-stimulated phosphoprotein phosphatase activity of H+, K+-ATPase system) was observed on the lateral apical membrane of the parietal cell (21). In these respects, we concluded that the tight junction of the parietal cell is the specialized junction and the cyclase activities on it may regulate the permeability on the paracellular pathway.…”

“…It was difficult to identify the activity on the tubulovesicles insomuch as the fixative of 4% FA used for ACLase brought morphological defects especially to the tubulovesicular membranes of the parietal cell. We also demonstrated that Ca++-ATPase activity and ouabain-sensitive, K+ dependent p-nitrophenylphosphatase activity were localized not only on the basal and lateral membranes, but also on some tubulovesicles in the non-secreting parietal cell (21). These findings may indicate that the tubulovesicles are not uniform in nature.…”

“…Golgi membrane-associated Ca2+-ATPase is de scribed in several exocrine glands like the mouse lactating mammary gland cell [ 18], the gastric parietal cell of guinea pig [ 19] and the pyloric mucous cell of cattle [20]. In the rat ameloblast [21] ctv-fra/zs-graded activity is speculated to reflect synthesis and processing of the enzyme through the endoplasmic reticulum-Golgi route, designed to be finally integrated into the plasmalemma.…”
