Cytogenetic study of the pure Resveratrol extracted from grape skin on normal peripheral human blood lymphocytes

Abstract: his study was conducted with the aim to extract and purify a polyphenolic compound “Resveratrol” from black grapes skin Vitis vinifera cultivated in Iraq. The pure extracted resveratrol has been employed for a cytogenetic evaluation on the normal human blood lymphocytes and revealed that the substance reduced significantly the mitotic action of the mutagen (PHA). The results of the cytogenetic study suggested that the substance appeared to have potent antimitotic and antiblastic cell formation.

“…However, these values are all not significant compared to the negative control. Nevertheless, A. santolina was the best among the studied plants because it has the highest MI values at all concentrations used (3.3±0.28 at 1 mg/ml, 3±0.14 at 3 mg/ml 2.25±0.07 at 5 mg/ml) close to the normal MI Studies showed that the flavonoid and thymol decreased MI at a higher concentration, and also the pure resveratrol from grape skin antagonized the mitotic action of PHA and acted as an anti-mitotic agent 17, 18 . The extracts from three plants which are investigated in the current study contain flavonoids and tannins (Phytochemical screening), and the highest flavonoid content was observed in C. verutum 5 .…”

“…Resveratrol may exert its anti-inflammatory effects by reducing the quantity and kind of leukocytes in BALF (Zhang et al, 2014) . Additionally, a cytogenetic analysis of resveratrol on healthy human blood lymphocytes showed a significant reduction of the mutagen's ability to induce mitosis (Mohammed et al, 2011). Previous published research demonstrated that resveratrol may ameliorate asthma by preventing the production of inflammatory mediators, increasing airway remodeling, and suppressing inflammation that is brought on by asthma (Alharris et al, 2018).…”
