Cytological and biochemical characteristics of rats’ peripheral blood under the condition of experimental diabetes mellitus type 1 and Galega officinalis admission

Show more

“…Two weeks af ter the in duc tion of EDM, the ani mals were given GOE nonalkaloid-containing frac tion per os as an aque ous sus pen sion dose in the quan tity of 0.6 g per 1 kg of body weight in 1 ml of vol ume. The re ceiv ing of GOE nonalkaloid-containing frac tion was con ducted accord ing to the pro to col as de scribed ear lier [10]. “…The condition of the iodine supply of rats was evaluated by the concentration of iodine in the daily portions of urine collected by the exchange cell method. Carbohydrate metabolism in animals was characterized by the level of glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) in whole blood, glucose contents, immunoreactive insulin (IRI) and uric acid in fasting blood serum, and HOMA-IR (Homeostasis Model Assesment Insulin Resistane) indices were estimated [5,8]. Lipid metabolism was calculated by determination of total cholesterol (TC), low density cholesterol (TC LDL) and high density cholesterol (TC HDL), triglyc-erides (TG), and atherogenic factor coefficient (CA) in blood serum [8].…”

“…Galega officinalis normalizes differential count of Galega officinalis L. and Immunological Status in Diabetes Mellitus DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.5772/intechopen.88802 leukocytes in conditions of diabetes mellitus. In particular, it leads to an increase in the number of segmented and band neutrophils while overall lowering the number of lymphocytes to almost control values [49]. This indicates a normalization of the cell-mediated immune response, as one of the most important factors determining the activity of the immune system of an organism [49].…”
