“…Although urinalysis showing inflammatory cells draws attention to a child who might be infected, pyuria can be found in children following simple immunization and in association with gastroenteritis. 2,3 The presumption of a urinary tract infection is based on history and urinalysis but these must be followed by a positive urine culture to be diagnostic.…”
