Cytotoxic and antifungal studies of biosynthesized zinc oxide nanoparticles using extract of Prosopis farcta fruit

Abstract: Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) are one of the most widely used mineral particles. These nanoparticles are biocompatible and safe which can be used in medical-related industries. In this study, ZnO NPs were synthesized through an aqueous extract of Prosopis farcta fruit. Biosynthesized nanoparticles were identified through Ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis), Powder X-Ray Diffraction (PXRD), Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM), Energy Dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX), and Transmission Electron Micro… Show more

“…Emergence of new strains intended the researchers to improve this complex problem. ZnO-NPs are extensively explored as an antibacterial agent due to its unique properties like high surface area and its ability to induce oxidative stress [32] [33]. ZnO-NPs release Zn +2 ions which interact with the thiol functional group of respiratory enzymes.…”

“…Nanotechnology is a multidisciplinary field that can be used in different fields such as engineering, medicine and chemistry [240][241][242]. Nanoparticles are structures with size less than 100 nm with capability of enhancing the bioavailability of drugs by encapsulating them and protection against degradation [8,243]. Also, they can reduce the clearance of drugs by escaping from phagocytosis system.…”

“…[4] Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs) are considered the most signi cant between the metal oxides NPs for their biocompatibility, high UV protection [5], low cost, non-toxicity, low electric resistance [6], thermal stability [7], and robustness [8]. So, these nanostructures are widely used in various elds such as the food industry [9], agriculture, solar cell [10], gas sensors [11], cosmetics [12], environmental remediation [13], and nally in medical elds such as gene delivery, wound healing [14], bio-imaging, drug delivery, biomedicine, especially in the elds of anticancer, antibacterial [15], anti-in ammatory, antioxidant, antifungal, and antidiabetic elds [16].…”
