DAPK1 as an independent prognostic marker in liver cancer

Abstract: The death-associated protein kinase 1 (DAPK1) can act as an oncogene or a tumor suppressor gene depending on the cellular context as well as external stimuli. Our study aims to investigate the prognostic significance of DAPK1 in liver cancer in both mRNA and protein levels. The mRNA expression of DAPK1 was extracted from the Gene Expression Omnibus database in three independent liver cancer datasets while protein expression of DAPK1 was detected by immunohistochemistry in our Chinese liver cancer patient cohor… Show more

“…In our study, high GLUT1 expression was independently associated with poor overall survival, and its interaction with PKM2 exacerbated this consequence. SLC16A3, belonging to the proton-linked monocarboxylate transporter (MCT) family, was significantly up-regulated in liver cancer in multiple datasets [ 30 ] and in our study. Deregulation of this gene may influence intracellular acidic environments [ 31 ].…”

“…As the DrugBank indicated, pivots such as Fibrinolysin and Pasireotide have already been explored in the study of pancreatic cancer (52,53), Amcinonide came to the horizon. Amcinonide as a corticosteroid has been reported to effectively reverse the expression of the oncogene DAPK1 (death-associated protein kinase 1) in liver carcinoma (54). While the effect of Amcinonide on pancreatic cancer have not been investigated yet, the present study offered a good insight into the further study of pancreatic cancer.…”
