Abstract: Abstract. Die synchronen spätglazialen Alleröd-Bildungen (ca. 10000—8800 v. Chr.) Europas sowie das zufolge der Radiokarbon-Datierung gleichzeitige Two Creeks Forest bed in Nord-Amerika beweisen als wichtiger stratigraphischer und chronologischer Leithorizont die Gleichzeitigkeit des Spätglazials und damit auch der letzten Vereisung in den genannten Gebieten, insbesondere in Europa die Gleichzeitigkeit von Mittelschwedischem und Salpausselkä-Stadium mit der Jüngeren Dryaszeit im Norden und der Schlußvereisung … Show more

In the form stated, they rely on the findings of Firbras (1949), Deevey (1949, Gross (1954), Emiliani (1955), Suess (1956), Barendsen, Deevey and Gralenski (1957), Wright (1957), Deevey and Flint (1957), and Fairbridge (1961). “…The moraines of this region probably originated in both of these ways as some of them are known to date from the Pre-Allerød phase and others from the Post-Altered. Organic deposits at widely scattered sites in north-west Europe 1 have yielded by the technique of pollen analysis detailed information about the vegetation and climate of that temporary amelioration and the less favourable conditions which followed, and which also immediately preceded it. From such investigations a precise definition of this tripartite period has become possible and it is known as the Late-glacial Period.…”
