Show more

“…Unusual structures could be also found in reactions involving main group elements. Thus, the unprecedented tris-and tetrakis-(disulfato)-metalates A 2 4 ] (M = Si, Ge) were reported by our group. [5] In course of these investigations we also tried to prepare comparable complexes containing tellurium.…”

“…[2] Further interesting examples are the trisulfate Pb(S 3 O 10 ), obtained from (NH 4 ) 2 PbCl 6 and oleum at 250°C, [3] and the tetrasulfate (NO 2 ) 2 (S 4 O 13 ) gained from the reaction of N 2 O 5 with SO 3 . [4] Both are examples of the rarely seen polysulfate anions. Unusual structures could be also found in reactions involving main group elements.…”

“…In this way we obtained the first palladium disulfate, Pd(S 2 O 7 ), in which the octahedral oxygen coordination of palladium leads to a ferromagnetic behavior at low temperature 6. Moreover, we presented the first tetrasulfate in the structure of (NO) 2 [S 4 O 13 ]7 and the first complex of this anion in the structure of K 2 [Pd(S 4 O 13 ) 2 ] 8. Nevertheless, it must be stated that we do not have a really satisfying preparative route to polysulfates at the moment.…”

“…Nevertheless, it must be stated that we do not have a really satisfying preparative route to polysulfates at the moment. However, our theoretical investigations reveal that the stability of polysulfate anions decreases remarkably with the chain length of the anion, and that long chain polysulfates are favored at lower temperature 7. As one option we decided to use ionic liquids (ILs) as low temperature solvents.…”
