Datasets of captured images of three different devices for photogrammetry calculation comparison and integration into a laserscan point cloud of a built environment

Abstract: The presented data article aims to provide the whole dataset obtained during an experiment of updating laser scan point clouds with photogrammetry meshes. In this context, the data quality and calculation time of photogrammetry models from different recording devices and different software solutions were compared. It was investigated whether photos from smartphones are also appropriate for updating point clouds by using photogrammetry in a factory environment. The photos of a technical installation were taken … Show more

“…In addition to the large thematic groups described above, one can find a number of publications in which 3D models of various objects were made using images taken from a phone [ 80 , 81 , 82 , 83 , 84 , 85 , 86 , 87 , 88 , 89 , 90 , 91 , 92 , 93 ]. Smartphones were also used in radioactivity detection [ 94 ] or in forensic science [ 95 , 96 ].…”

“…This software allows to generate 3D models and textures. Today, there are many programs available, both free and opensource, such as Meshroom [42,43], Colmap [44], VisualSFM [45], and commercial: Agisoft PhotoScan, Capturing Reality RealityCapture [2].…”

“…The focus of this study is on BIM-based earthworks quantities estimation and the assessment of accuracy obtained by different UAV-based photogrammetry techniques. Several studies have been performed on accuracy assessment in this area, where different methods were analyzed to compare point cloud generated data obtained via photogrammetry and laser scanning [21,22], under different camera settings, different values of ground sample distance (GSD) and different number and configuration of ground control points (GCPs) [23][24][25][26]. Accuracy analysis results in automatic UAV and terrestrial photogrammetry against different image network configurations, with and without ground control points were presented in [27].…”
