Decolorization of Six Synthetic Dyes by Fungi

Abstract: To find out ability of fourteen basidiomycetes and four ascomycetes strains to grow in the presence of synthetic colour dyes and to degrade them, fungi were cultivated on the malt agar plates containing 0.

“…The production of laccase has been reported by P. rivulosus [24], K. mutabilis [25] and other isolate of G. dryophilus (= Collybia dryophila, K209) and tested in the present study [26]. The white-rot fungus P. rivulosus showed colour zone on ABTS plates [12] with Al, W, Ga, Zr, Mo and V and without metals [23] as was observed also in the present study. P. rivulosus was sensitive to Al, Mo, V, W and Zr and tolerant to Ga [23].…”

“…Studies concerning the mycelium growth rate in the presence of various substances (metals, dyes) were conducted mainly on agar media or in liquid cultures (Baldrian and Gabriel 2002; Dresch et al 2015; Hartikainen et al 2016). The yield of F. betulina mycelium was established in liquid cultures with addition of some agricultural wastes in the studies of Krupodorova and Barshteyn (2015).…”

[11][12][13][14][15] However, the pollutant biodegradation process using free cells still has some drawbacks, such as the cells used are limited in terms of operational stability, reusability, and transfer of substrates into cells. 16 Cell immobilization is a solution that overcomes this drawback.…”
