Decolourisation of direct dyes with manganese peroxidase from white rot basidiomycete Ganoderma lucidum‐IBL‐5

Abstract: In the current project the ability of white-rot fungus Ganoderma lucidum IBL-05 was investigated for the decolourisation of some direct textile dyes. In the initial time course study maximum decolourisation (83.78 ± 5%) was observed for Solar golden yellow R at pH 4 and temperature 30 • C after 6th day. Various process parameters like optimum pH, incubation time, temperature and additional carbon and nitrogen additives were optimized to achieve maximum decolourisation of the dye by G. lucidum IBL-05. Addition … Show more

“…in T. versicolor when grown with high carbon and nitrogen sources (Tekere et al, 2001b), and in G. lucidum IBL-05 as the only secreted enzyme (Bibi et al, 2009). The simultaneous presence of MnP and Lac has been already described as a typical feature in basidiomycetes (Tekere et al, 2001a;Saparrat et al, 2002).…”

“…For growth in liquid medium, the culture medium consist of (g/L): 0.22; ammonium tartarate, 0.21; KH2PO4, 0.05; MgSO4. 7H2O,0.01;CaCl2,0.001;Thiamine,0.08;CuSO4,0.05;H2MoO4,0.07;MnSO4.4H2O,0.043;ZnSO4.7H2O,0.05;Fe(SO4)3 and then10 mL of 10% Tween 80, 10 mL of 100 mM veratryl alcohol, 1mL of chloramphenicol was added and volume was made up to 1000 mL with distilled water (Bibi et al, 2009). Four sets of 250-mL flasks were prepared containing 100 mL of liquid medium each in triplicate samples.…”

“…As a result, they generate a considerable amount of coloured wastewater (Crini, 2006). The economic removal/degradation of polluting dyes is an important current issue, particularly as new regulations regarding industrial effluent discharge are beginning to be enforced (Bibi et al 2009). The inefficiency of the dyeing process, poor handling of spent effluents and insufficient treatment of wastes from the dyestuff industries has led to dye contamination in the soil and water.…”
