Degradation of norfloxacin by copper-doped Bi2WO6-induced sulfate radical-based visible light-Fenton reaction

Abstract: In this work, a series of Cu(ii)-doped Bi2WO6 nanomaterials with good photo-response properties were facile synthesized and used to obtain efficient peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation activity for norfloxacin (NOF) removal under visible LED light irradiation.

“…In this relation, the analysis is carried out based on the equation αhν = A ( hν − E g ) n , where A is a constant and α , hν , and E g refer to the absorption coefficient, light frequency and band-gap, respectively. 59 We think that eosin reduces the optical band gap and, therefore, reduction of absorbance. In this case, photons cannot excite electrons from the valence band (VB) to the conduction band (CB).…”

In order to derive the best conditions, a model reaction was conducted using benzaldehyde (1 mmol), dimedone (1 mmol), and 4-hydroxycoumarin (1 mmol) with the photocatalyst (0.001 g) under solvent conditions (acetonitrile, 3 mL) against irradiation with a green LED (l max ¼ 535 nm) (Table 1).…”

“…To further ascertain the primary active radicals for the degradation of TC, the quenching experiments are carried out. Hydroxyl radicals (•OH), superoxide anion radicals (O2• -) are reported exist in Fenton-like process (Nie et al 2020;Sun et al 2020;Zhong et al 2020). In this HCo@NC/H2O2 Fenton-like system, the two active radicals mentioned above are detected, and KI is utilized to scavenge •OH on the catalyst surface, and NaN3 is used as scavenger for oxygen and •OH in solution.…”
