“…The absence of necrotic lesions in the gingiva of CFA injected primates suggested that oral mucosa reacts differently from skin and other mucous membranes. Necrosis did not occur in the granulomas produced in the gingiva of guinea pigs by Adams et al (1969), giving support to the contention that mucous membranes may differ from skin in their reaction to CFA. It is also reasonable to suggest that the early sacrifice of the primates may have preceded development of necrotic lesions.…”
