Design and Fabrication of a Novel Quadruple-Band Monopole Antenna Using a U-DGS and Open-Loop-Ring Resonators

Abstract: In this Article, a novel quadruple-band microstrip patch antenna is proposed for the systems operating at quad-band applications. The antenna structure is composed of modified rectangular patch antenna with a U-shaped defected ground structure (DGS) unit and two parasitic elements (open-loopring resonators) to serve as a coupling-bridge. The proposed antenna with a total size of 31×33 mm 2 is fabricated and tested. The measured result indicates that the designed antenna has impedance bandwidths for 10 dB retur… Show more

“…Parasitic patches can be used in microstrip antennas for various purposes. For example, a U‐shaped parasitic strip was used to realize a notch frequency band in , parasitic elements were used to achieve multi‐band operation in , the AR bandwidth of microstrip antennas was increased using parasitic patches in references , and parasitic patches were used to improve the impedance bandwidth of microstrip antennas in references . In the latter case, one or several parasitic patches that had a resonance frequency close to the resonant frequency of the feed patch were placed close to the feed patch.…”

“…Minimize dual band (PIFA) have been reported in [10,11], and are reached using etched slotted radiated element. In [12][13][14][15][16][17], triple band small size composite-resonator monopole antenna designs for wireless communications were presented. Theses antennas are consisting of three resonant topologies.…”
