When it comes to dealing with energy savings in buildings, studies almost systematically focus on the residential and tertiary building stocks while the industrial building stock is ignored. This study comes as a first step to move forward on this topic and its objectives are threefold: first to develop a simple methodology suitable for various industrial activities, then to analyse the distribution of the energy demand by use for 6 different cases and, finally, to carry out a sensitivity analysis. A first observation was that the energy demands for HVAC and lighting systems and the heat loads were of the same order of magnitude. The energy demand for heating and cooling was normally distributed, and the uncertainty on the results lay between ±20% and ±40% for most cases. The influence of 6 weather conditions was estimated for all of the 6 buildings and found to be significant, yet not uniformly.

This paper describes the use of CFD modeling to analyze the thermal comfort in the oil filling factory which has an area of 3000 m 2. The need for this analysis comes from an uncomfortable condition that is felt by the workers of the factory. A 3D simulation using FLUENT software 6.3.26 conducted to analyze the temperature and velocity distribution in the plant room. The water is assumed as an incompressible ideal gas, steady flow, turbulence models used k−ε standard, the SIMPLE algorithm and second order upwind discretisation. Analysis was conducted on existing models and propose models, whereby on a model propose, the diffuser is installed above the workers with a height of 4,2 m above the floor, the velocity of supply air diffuser is varied from 1,5 m/s, 2 m/s, and 2,5 m/s. The simulation results show that the temperature distribution in the existing conditions in the range of about 34-36 • C, this value exceeds the thermal comfort standards specified by ASHRAE. The simulation results show that the proposed model better temperature distribution, where the temperature is generated in the range of ASHRAE thermal comfort criteria, ranging from 24-26 • C, and the supply air velocity at the diffuser inlet of 1,5 m/s recommended for use in AHU system. For the 20 units of the diffuser with inlet velocity of 1,5 m/s, the mass flow rate that should be handled by a cooling device is 9 kg/s and require a cooling capacity of 0,128 MW. This is 58% more efficient than cooling the entire room factory.

The increasing demand for energy and the depletion of existing fossil fuel based resources have forced the countries to realize the efficient use of energy, energy saving applications and searching alternative energy sources. Using the energy efficiently and performing energy saving studies have great importance for developing countries like ours that are dependent on other countries to meet their energy needs. Hospitals generally consume 6% of total energy in the buildings. Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems are the significant part of electrical energy consumption at the hospitals. The air-conditioning system is responsible for around 70% of total electricity consumption. Electric motors and lighting systems in a hospital represent approximately 19-21% of the total energy consumption. In this study, according to the detailed analysis on the lighting devices, electric motors and HVAC systems, the energy saving potentials and payback periods of these systems are estimated for a University Hospital.Keywords: University hospital, Energy efficiency, Energy saving, Energy management. Enerji ihtiyaçlarını karşılamada başka ülkelere bağımlı olan bizim gibi gelişmekte olan ülkelerde, mevcut enerjiyi verimli kullanmak ve tasarruf çalışmaları yapmak daha büyük önem taşımaktadır. Hastaneler binalarda kullanılan toplam enerjinin yaklaşık olarak %6'sını tüketmektedir. Isıtma, Havalandırma ve İklimlendirme sistemleri (IHİS), hastanede tüketilen elektrik enerjisinin büyük bir kısmını oluşturmaktadır. İklimlendirme sistemleri toplam tüketilen yaklaşık olarak %70'inden sorumludur. Hastanedeki elektrik motorları ve aydınlatma sistemleri yaklaşık olarak toplam enerjinin %19-21'lik kısmını harcamaktadırlar. Bu çalışmada, aydınlatma cihazları, elektrik motorları ve IHİS sistemleri üzerine yapılan detaylı çalışmalar sonucunda, bir üniversite hastanesinde bu cihazların enerji tasarruf potansiyelleri ve geri dönüşüm süreleri tahmin edilmiştir.
