Design CPW Fed Slot Antenna for Wideband Applications

Abstract: Abstract-In this paper, a CPW-fed slot antenna for wideband application was designed and simulated. In order to examine the performances of this antenna, a prototype was designed at frequency 2.4 GHz and simulated with various width of slot antenna in both sides for input impedances matching and simulated by IE3D software package of Zeland. The simulation result of bandwidth is 1.65 GHz (2.1-3.75 GHz) which covers the standard frequency of IEEE 802.11 b/g (2.4-2.4835 GHz) and Wimax (2.3-3.6 GHz). With these pe… Show more

“…As the aim was to simulate a wideband antenna, the starting structure was based on a CPWfed slot dipole by Nithisopa [11] which was developed to function on a substrate structure close to the battery design proposed by Nagatomo. The slot antenna consisted of two asymmetric slots cut into an upper plane of metal.…”

“…The antenna type employed as receiving and transmitting element for the unit cell is a CPW-fed slot antenna [18][19][20][21]. There are several reasons for the choice of coplanar technology and a slot-style antenna.…”

“…A wide impedance bandwidth of 2.4 GHz using two fictitious shorts at the slot end was reported by Nadar et al in [4]. A CPW fed slot antenna for wide band applications was proposed in [5]. It covered the frequency range from 2.1 GHz to 3.6 GHz by dividing the slot into sections of different widths on either side of the CPW feed.…”

“…However, most of the designs were meant for narrow band operation and the studies focussed on the first resonance of the slot. Some of the rectangular slot antennas designed for wider bandwidth are listed in references [2][3][4][5][6]. In [2], a dual band operation is achieved by the combination of a narrow slot and slot loop.…”
