Design, modelling, and implementation of a modified double‐switch flyback‐forward converter for low power applications

Abstract: This study proposes a modified double-switch flyback-forward (DSFF) converter for low-power applications with a reduced number of windings in its transformer. This circuit has resulted from the combination of the two-switch flyback and twoswitch forward converters. It includes a simple transformer with one set of secondary side windings, and it is not necessary to design two separate sets of windings for the desired output voltage which is the main problem of other flyback-forward converters. An auxiliary wind… Show more

“…In addition to the function of increasing the voltage from solar panels, DC-DC converters also provide the function of extracting electricity from the solar battery to chemical energy storage devices, such as acid, alkaline or lithium-ion batteries, implemented by semiconductor converters. To implement the function of maximum power selection from the solar panel in the DC-DC converter, it is necessary to ensure the implementation of the input current value adjustment for maximum power selection from the solar panel [21,22].…”

“…Resetting the HF transformer is a special feature for the forward DC-DC converter. Therefore, several forward topologies have been suggested with diverse transformer reset arrangements [13][14][15][16][17].…”

“…In addition, switching losses are imposed on the converter due to using hard-switching pulse width modulation (PWM) techniques. 12 New generations of boost converters, which are named as impedance source converters, operate with lower duty cycles. 13,14,16 Although the converter conduction losses decrease, still, the switching losses exist.…”
