Design of a dual band frequency reconfigurable patch antenna for GSM and Wi-Fi applications

Abstract: Reconfigurable antennas due to their versatile qualities are highly demanded nowadays. A novel frequency reconfigurable patch antenna with two metallic rings around a rectangular patch is presented in this paper. Frequency reconfigurability can be achieved by changing the radiating surface of antenna. Surrounding metallic rings are connected to center patch with switches. The antenna operate in 1.8 GHz and 2.4 GHz frequency bands, when the switches are turned ON and OFF respectively. When the switches are turn… Show more

“…The authors have also proposed an ultra-wideband microstrip antenna with dual-band notch features in the frequency band 2.73-11.34 GHz applicable for WLAN and satellite applications [23]. In the frequency band 2-6 GHz, a dual-band with frequency reconfiguration microstrip antenna for Wi-Fi applications is proposed [24]. Using FR-4 substrate, the authors have designed an inset fed rectangular-shaped patch antenna for dual-band operation at 2.4 and 5.8 GHz for Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi max applications, and the same is optimized for having a U-shaped structure [ 2(a), the proposed antenna has the size of 50×60×1.6 mm 3 .…”

“…Double PIN diodes comparing with a Reconfigurable antenna using Single PIN diode, Sample size was calculated by using previous study Results (Shoukat et al 2016) using clincalc.com by keeping alpha error-threshold by 0.05, 95% confidence interval, Power 80%. In this study we compare the Parameters like Return Loss, VSWR by taking 6 samples, one sample group by using previous literature (Shoukat et al 2016).…”
