Design of a Merged DSP Microcontroller for Embedded Systems using Discrete Orthogonal Transform

Abstract: Abstract:In this paper we have proposed the design of a DSP microcontroller where the processor load is significantly reduced by relegating the math-intensive DSP algorithm to dedicated transform computing modules. It is shown that the use of such transform modules will facilitate scalability, reusability and flexibility for implementation of wide varieties of DSP functionalities. Moreover, it would be possible to meet the need of real-time DSP performance through high throughput computation of orthogonal tran… Show more

“…It is worth mentioning that the DSPs are also equipped with embedded fused multiply/add which can be used for orthogonal transforms implementations such as discrete cosine transform (DCT), discrete Hartley transform (DHT) as well as others computation-intensive DSP functions like convolution, interpolation and adaptive filtering [33]. As a result, DSPs have been successfully used in a wide range of image processing applications [34][35][36][37][38][39].…”

“…With the availability of more complex technique of data collection, observation study especially via embedded system is seen as more effective (El-Mousa and Al-Suyyagh, 2010;Rath and Meher, 2006;Rath and Dehuri, 2006). The development of instrument to deal with plagiarism in this study considers some important factors in physical specifications.…”
