Design of Compact Highpass Filter for 5G mm-wave Applications Using Complementary Split Ring Resonator

Abstract: This article presents a design of highpass filter (HPF) for millimeter-wave (mm-wave) applications using a square complementary split-ring resonator (SCSRR). A miniaturized size HPF filter is obtained by overlapping the Right-Hand (RH) and Left-Hand material. The arrangement of inter-digital parallel coupled capacitor and SCSRR offers low insertion loss, high selectivity with a sharp roll-off factor over a wide bandwidth of 15.9 GHz (from 34.1 to 50 GHz). Generally, SCSRR offers narrow passband/stopband howeve… Show more

“…The usage of different geometrical shapes (Circular, square, triangle, rhombic, rectangular) is increased exponentially, particularly in notch frequency design and printed planer antennas for the past two decades [23,24]. This design circular monopole antenna design involves two sequential steps of antennas (Antenna1 (reference antenna)and Antenna2(final antenna)) which are useful for electromagnetic compatibility.…”

“…Actually, the SRR structure has been widely used in micro- and nano-optics fields. It has not only been used as an efficient absorber [ 21 , 22 ], which can accurately control the absorption process of light [ 23 ], but also has played an important role as a filter [ 24 , 25 , 26 ] to effectively screen out light waves at specific frequencies. Lahiri et al investigated an asymmetric SRR and obtained a 0.51 µm and 0.12 µm spectral shift for a 100 nm and 30 nm thick PMMA layer [ 27 ], respectively.…”

“…An extensive study on multiband band bandpass filters (BPFs) have been carried out in the recent days to cater the current and future needs in the fields of satellite communication systems and contemporary mobile and wireless systems for diversified geographical and topographical aspects. Multiband BPF proves to be a promising member ensuring competitive insertion loss and high selectivity 1 with miniaturized dimensions 2–6 . So far, all literatures have reported on dual and quad‐band BPFs with remarkable filtering characteristics 2–8 .…”
